Kangaroos

Kangaroos are animals that live in Australia.
Kangaroos are not normal mammals, they are marsupials. Marsupial means that the mother has a pouch so when the baby is born it climbs up into the pouch.
A baby kangaroo is called a joey. When baby kangaroos are born they are the size of a jelly bean. After five months the baby kangaroo can poke its head out of its mothers pouch. After six months they can get out of their mother’s pouch but if the joey gets too far away the mother calls it back.
Kangaroos protect themselves in many different ways. Kangaroos stay in a mob. The father kangaroo is the boss of the mob. If another kangaroo wants to be the boss, they fight.
